Regarding constraints, we have selected two cases: U: Unconstrained supply of coal and nuclear power. C: Constrained supply, due to health, safety, environmental, and other limitations on the rate of increase of supply. It is important to note that we have assumed domestic production of petroleum and natural gas, and imports of these fuels, to be strictly limited by geological factors in the first instance and by international political factors in the second. The combined effect of all constraints is shown in Table 4.2.
