CONTRIBUTION OF THOMSON TUBES ELECTRONIQUES 1. SCOPE This paper presents the technical discussions and views of Thomson Tubes Electroniques, regarding the microwave sources available for the various options of a Powersat technology demonstrator. 2. REFERENCE [1] Discussion of Powersat Technology demonstrator options - RJ. Hannigan - Eurospace. 3. PRELIMINARY REMARKS Most options described in [1] show limitations (size, thermal control, available power, etc.) which much reduce the choice for a microwave transmitter - furthermore, the requirement for low cost imposes to choose the microwave sources among off-the-shelf tubes. This is why quite a limited number of RF sources are deemed suitable for the Powersat demonstrator, whichever option may be chosen. However, the solutions proposed by Thomson Tubes Electroniques are quite realistic, because they call for existing sources. 4. METHODOLOGY OF INVESTIGATIONS For each option, the basic constraints are drawn from ref [1]. The other characteristics with more freedom are used as parameters. From these inputs,
