CURE CONFIGURATION & REQUIREMENTS • Fully metallized torus • Temperature for efficient cure is reached when the Sun line is within ±30’ of the torus plane’s normal * Cure requires about 6 h net time; 24 - 48 h of deployed time in orbit PASSIVE PRESSURIZATION CONCEPT • Passive pressurization involves: - deployment and pressurization - pressure maintenance under the action of different vapours’ pressures (with mechanical relief valves for safety) • The residual gas, estimated at 920 ppm, gives a packaged pressure of 9.6 kPa. • Vent valves reduce residual gas pressure down to 1.5 kPa. • Initial deployment by residual gas, with "deployed" pressure = 43 Pa. • Pressurization level 1.29 kPa. • Solvents evolved under solar heating can pressurize the torus: - 2.25% volatiles yield about the nominal level - 5% residual volatiles typical • Pressure maintenance may be provided by lower-vapor-pressure substances, such as 2-2’-thiodiethanol
