According to ERDA 48, Volume 2, a production capability of 50 GW (equivalent to 2.5 10-GW SPS's) should be achieved by 2000 with a market price in the range of $100 to $300/kW. While recognizing that the weight requirements for solar cells to be used in space are different from those for terrestrial use, the $100 to $500 range appears reasonable and was used in the present study.
