As shown in Figure XIB-5 the critical nature of ownership upon this rate of return value and hence the cost of electricity is immediately apparent and must be addressed to assure the most economically sound approach to the problem. Plant factor was varied from 80 to 100 percent fixed transportation cost of $100/kg and prime power cost of $300/kw. The resulting electric generation cost is shown in Figure XIB-6. If the plant factor is reduced from 100 to 80 percent, the generation cost is increased by 25 percent.
