Potassium Rankine cycles show lower efficiencies than the steam cycles. Higher efficiencies for potassium cycles would have required untractable dimensions for the low pressure stages of the turbines. Steam Rankine cycles show better efficiencies for the corresponding ranges of turbine inlet temperature, but these cycles are much more massive. The high temperature steam cycle has the lowest non-lunar mass, but the non-lunar masses of the cycles do not differ greatly.
