USE OF REMAINING RESERVES There is great uncertainty as to what portion of the world reserves of fossil fuel and fissionable Uranium 235 are economically recoverable. Using the projection of usage from the previous chart, those reserves which are recoverable under present technology at the present price structure will be consumed by 2025. If we assume that improved technology and increasing fuel costs will make all the reserves potentially usable, this same increasing demand would consume all reserves in the next 150 years. Reductions in the growth of energy demand would put off this depletion. Nonetheless, we eventually will consume all our fossil fuel reserves. There is an obvious need for a non- depletable, nonpolluting energy source and this need must be met within the next 50 to 100 years.
