(See attachment for location by superscript> Keywords: microwaves, environmental effects, prototype systems Abstract: An outline of a project MINIX which is short for Microwave Ionosphere Nonlinear Interaction Experiment is described. The MINIX is a preparatory rocket experiment for the future Solar Power Satellite and aims to investigate a possible interaction of the SPS microwave energy-beam with the ionosphere. ATTACHMENT : Development of fundamental technologies of the microwave energy transmission in space is one of the project objectives as well. A space chamber pre-launch experiment was performed using the rocket-borne microwave transmitter. The experimental results are given with physical interpretations. Location of Authors 1. (Paper No. 1-12) Authors: Ogura, Koichi; Okamoto, Tadashi (Toshiba Corporation, Electron Tube & Dev ice D i v i s i on > Keywords: microwaves Abstract: Microwave tubes have been developed and widely used in the many kinds of microwave communication, broadcasting and radar systems. As for microwave energy application field, 500,000 - 600,000 pieces of CW magnetrons are manufactured and used in microwave home oven per month, and the development of ATTACHMENT : CW 1 MW class super high-power electron tubes is required under some big projects such as high energy accelerator, nuclear fusion, and industrial microwave heating systems. In this paper, state-of-the-art of microwave tubes is surveyed, and a brief discussion related to 10 MW SPS (Solar Power Station) System Project is presented. Title: Basic design of antennnas for SPS Source: Proceedings of the Second ISAS Space Energy Symposium, Institute of Space & Astronautical Science, 4-6-1 Komaba, Meguro-ku, Tokyo 153, Japan, Dec. 13-14, 1982. (Paper No. II-l) Authors: Adachi, Saburo; Uno, Toru; (Faculty of Engineering, Tohoku University> Keywords: microwaves, ground energy conversion and distribution Abstract: In the wireless power transmission such as SPS system, the electromagnetic environments induced are the factors of vital importance for the realization of the system. In this paper, the maximum receivable power and the average receiving power ATTACHMENT : density obtained with the use of the antenna aperture illumination to give the maximum transmission efficiency under the constraint that the maximum power density outside the receiving aperture is below a certain prescribed level are discussed. Thus, a basic design of antennas for SPS power transmission taking account of the electromagnetic environments has been made available.
