Test Apparatus The test apparatus used in the fundamental test is illustrated in Fig. 4 and Fig. 5. The cell stack is maintained at a temperature of 80°C by circulating water of a constant temperature bath through the coolant plates in both sides of the cell stack. Gaseous hydrogen is saturated with water vapor while passing in a humidifier, and then is warmed to a temperature of 80°C in the constant temperature bath before feeding to the cell stack. Some part of it is consumed in the cell stack, and the remaining is circulated in order to remove generated water vapor. Dry gaseous oxygen is also fed after being warmed to a temperature of 80°C. Both of the streams are vented out the system for the sake of simplicity. The feed rates of gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen are 5 x and 1.13 x that of the theoretical consumption rates, respectively.
