CIC FABRICATION The thinner solar cells are, the more evident the advantages of CIC become. It is considered that the main advantages of CIC compared with the conventional ones are as follows: (1) Better radiation resistance against low-energy protons. (2) Higher electrical power because of increased active area. (3) Higher mechanical strength because of covered cell surface with coverglass all over. The CIC fabrication technique was investigated and developed. After the investigation, CICs were fabricated successfully. The CIC performance used in this program is shown in Table 1. 4. MODULE INTEGRATION The techniques of ultrathin solar cell modules integration to rigid-type or semirigid-type substrate were investigated. Delicate attentions are needed to handle the ultrathin cell modules because they are brittle and deformable. RTV-S691 silicone adhesive (Wacker Chemie) was used for cell-to-substrate bonding. The vacuum pressure weighting method was used for the ultrathin cell bonding because small
