Linear processing characteristics and wide bandwidth make this technology attractive for signal processing in dense electromagnetic environments. This paper is concerned with some significant aspects of A- technology applications to receiver systems. The basic principle governing high-speed processing technology is A- 0/Bragg interaction. The Bragg phenomenon involves the interaction of acoustic energy propagating in an elastic, optically transparent medium illuminated with coherent light. Radio frequency signals from the environment are converted to longitudinal acoustic waves. Attention is given to the status of A-0 technology, the A-0 channelizer, the integroferometric spectrum analyzer, the miniature acousto-optic spectrum analyzer, integrated optics, direction finding, correlation processing, optical computation, and optical data correlation.
