3.3 Deployment Dynamics As described in the earlier section the CCL controls the deployment and makes the complete accordion type of deployment as a single degree of freedom system. The latch-up velocity at the end of the deployment and the deployment time have been calculated assuming this as a single degree of freedom system. Further, since two springs are introduced in the CCL wire rope loop as a means of temperature compensation, the single degree of freedom system becomes flexible. Study of deployment dynamics has been carried out considering these flexibilities. During ground simulation, the deployment is affected by air as well as additional masses like air bearing pads moving on surface plate, or trolleys moving on guide rails, Frequencies Stowed array: —Lateral—out of plane = 52 Hz —Lateral—in plane = 61 Hz —Longitudinal = 65 Hz Deployed Array: —Bending—out of plane = 0.39 Hz —Bending—in plane = 1.07 Hz —Torsion = 3.3 Hz
