For limiting the array deployment speed and reducing the high latch-up shock a centrifugal brake is contemplated. This will be decided upon after some performance evaluation tests and also on the basis of deployment dynamics analysis. 4.2 Test Programme The test programme will be of the same pattern as in the earlier systems and the implications of the test modelling, as reviewed, are to produce the expected results of successful development of the deployment mechanism. 5. Conclusion The design, development and qualification aspects of three spacecraft solar array mechanisms of ISRO are presented. The basic features of the APPLE mechanism have been established through ground and flight tests. The development of the IRS mechanism has progressed well and normal performance is expected on the basis of the functional tests completed so far. The INSAT-IITS mechanism is still in the early development phase.
