Predictions of radiator behavior were made through heat transfer simulations. A model with two-dimensional steady-state conduction and one-dimensional radiation heat transfer was chosen. In this analysis, thermal properties are constant and the Nusselt number is constant due to laminar tube flow. Figure 6 shows the effect of the intake coolant flow on the radiative heat flux: the higher the flow rate, the larger the heat flux. If a great deal of coolant (heated by mission devices) flows into the radiator, the increase in flow rate leads to a higher surface temperature distribution. Figure 7 shows the effect of the inlet coolant temperature on the radiative heat flux. The increase in inlet temperature results in a larger flux such that the radiative heat flux is proportional to the fourth power of the surface temperature.
