2. Estimated Performance in Space A comparison of the estimated specific power of photovoltaic arrays containing InP, GaAs and Si is shown in Figs 9 and 10. The calculations were performed using silicon 1 MeV electron damage equivalent data [28], This is, admittedly, a rough approximation for GaAs and InP. However, it is felt that the use of silicon data tends to overestimate the degradation in the present III-V solar cells.
