energy to enter the receiver aperture. Optimizing the collector performance is one way to increase system efficiency. Reflector performance depends on such factors as reflectance and sunlight flux distribution on the receiver. Optical analysis was performed using the ray-tracing algorithm. A computer was used to determine some optical parameters and to measure and optimize the simulated sunlight flux distribution. The concentrator surface was assumed in this case to be composed of many spherical surface segments. Definitions of parameters used are shown in Fig. 7. 1. Optical Analysis Method Different methods were considered for estimating the reflected sunlight flux distribution on the focal plane of the receiver. We finally ended up by assuming a Gaussian flux distribution for the subsequent calculations of the solar image deviation.
