Concluding Remarks Satellite librational performance as influenced by torque arising due to the solar radiation pressure on thermally deformed panels is examined. A rather specific but simple model of an axisymmetric gravity gradient satellite with symmetrically deployed panels is considered. Interaction of structural flexibility and the solar radiation pressure is in general found to have a substantial destabilizing effect on the satellite’s attitude behavior. Next, the investigation assumes the solar panels to be lined with a layer of another material of rather large coefficient of thermal expansion. This enables control of the direction of bending of the panels under differential solar heating through 180° rotations about their long axes.
