vapor effluent from the fuel cells is condensed in heat exchangers where a water coolant stream is evaporated and then collected in large, flexible radiators. The steam in the large, flexible radiators is condensed through radiation to space and then collected for electrolysis into hydrogen and oxygen for the fuel cells. As a result of closing the system, large radiators are required for operation of the reactor and the fuel cell system. Figure 23 shows the overall system configuration. Figure 24 shows the system schematic for the reactor and fuel cell system. No power conditioning is required between the reactor system and the fuel cell system in that the reactor has a direct output of 36 Vdc from the thermionic elements.
