The original thermoelectrochemical converter (a converter where the work is carried out by sodium vapor expansion which causes electromotive force due to processes in the solid electrolyte and a porous electrode) for the solar power system with the efficiency nearing to that of Carnot cycle has been developed at Moscow Aviation Institute under the guidance of L. A. Kvasnikov. We hope that power systems of this type will find their place in the SPS program.
