Preamble NOTING that the SUNSAT Energy Council, an NGO associated with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, has contributed to the Commission on Science and Technology first session, New York, April 1993, on the topic "Wireless Power Transmission - A Strategy for Renewable Energy Development"; to the Earth Summit of the UN Conference on Environment and Development "A Perspective on Power from Space for Use on Earth," Rio de Janeiro, June 1992; and to the UNESCO World Solar Summit, "Solar Power from Space for Use on Earth," Paris, July 1993; RECALLING that the SUNSAT Energy Council's objectives are: • To further the positive exploration of solar power satellites as a means of providing a non-depletable energy source for the benefit of humanity. • To encourage cooperation in research and in evaluation and development of solar power satellite technology among government agencies concerned with energy and among educational, scientific and industrial organizations or groups interested in such technology. • To increase public knowledge of solar power satellites as an energy option. • To identify and study problems associated with the development and use of solar power satellite systems; to suggest solutions for these problems to appropriate agencies and organizations. • To foster communication and interest among the public, environmental organizations, industry, labor, academic institutions, government agencies and all other relevant groups. • To promote international cooperation, education and communication in the development and regulation of solar power satellites; PRESENTS to the NGO Committee on Industry, Technology and the Economy, the SUNSAT Energy Council's communication on Solar Energy Systems for Industrialization in accord with the invitation to participate in the GLOBAL NGO FORUM, Accra, Ghana, West Africa, May 30-June 3, 1994.
