Abstract/Description:

In view of the problems or concerns related to obtaining the required energy from oil, gas, nuclear and coal sources, the nation is actively pursuing alternate sources of energy for the future. Solar energy is inexhaustible and clean and the increasing costs of other sources will make solar energy more attractive in the future. The use of solar energy collected on the earth has several basic limitations, however, which will tend to inhibit its widespread use. ... The space concept, while having advantages, also introduces new requirements. These include the need for transportation of the power station into space and the transmission of power from space to earth by microwave radiation. ... In view of past study results, the six-week study, and the conclusions of the "Outlook for Space" study, it was decided to implement at JSC a more detailed study of the Space Power Concept. This document (Volume II) contains the detailed results
