Abstract/Description:

Written by several giants of the classic SPS era, this report points out major real-"world" issues that a large-scale SPS deployment must address. These are questions and issues that the majority of NASA/DOE/etc. reports ignore, but for public understanding and allaying the fears of geopolitical allies (and not so allied others), being up-front on the possibilities of an SPS gone awry by mistake or intention is important. Plus, along with the military and defense related items, you will see more than a few details of alternative Space Based Solar Power technologies mentioned. This is a very good read, well written and important. For more information on this report see the special post at https://ssi.org/sps-a-special-p-o-v-report
